About Me:
I migrated to the United States in February of 2010 from Jamaica where
I was first bitten by the computer programming bug. I have had a love of Programming and the Unix/Linux Operating System since University which is where I initially
studied Software Design and Development and was awarded an Associates degree for same after just one year! Upon graduation my first impulse was to pursue a Bachelor's
degree in Computer Science but due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to work instead and found employment at one of the local high schools as a Computer Lab
Technician. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise, because although I was not studying full time the hands on work and the research I needed to do in order to help
my students was as good as a college course and a lot more fulfilling. I worked and at the same time made the time to develop my System Administration skills. I worked for
three years after which I migrated to the United States. Fortunately for me, I have been working as a Tier II Helpdesk Support Technician at a globally renowned media
company since arriving and have excelled in my position, one of the reasons for this is due to the passion I have for my work because to me this is not work it’s being
paid for what I love! My immediate goal is to pursue my degree in Programming that I had to put off before and I have set myself the future goal of being the Program
Administrator for a multinational corporation.
On my days off I enjoy playing with linux systems, shell scripting, crontabs, automating with Expect/Tcl/Tk, network security testing and hardening. If computers are my
first love then pool is my second, so I play every chance I get and am a member of my local Billiards team and I'm also a member of the American Poolplayers Association
and since I'm from the "Islands" soccer is a part of me and I occasionally play with friends in the summer at our local park.
